A first round of corporate volunteering initiatives has concluded, involving 50% of ARD Raccanello employees in real activities benefiting the community and the local area over the past few months.
The process unfolded in several stages. The idea emerged during a meeting between managers and was immediately supported by the owners, who have been sensitive to the issue of solidarity for long. To understand how deeply the issue was felt internally, we surveyed employees: the response was broad and enthusiastic, confirming the desire of many people to contribute to something beyond their work.
To engage with the Third Sector, we relied on the Volunteer Service Center of Padua and Rovigo (CSV), an organization that offers technical, training, and informational support to promote and strengthen volunteering and raise awareness of nonprofit organizations. Thanks to their knowledge of the local area, we identified organizations with which to build partnerships consistent with the interests expressed by employees.
Interacting with various organizations in the Padua area and beyond allowed us to gain a firsthand understanding of their diverse stories, needs, and experiences. At the end of this process, we selected two: one active in the social field and one in the environmental field. With both, we developed tailor-made projects that met both our organizational needs and a specific need in their respective areas of intervention.
The volunteering projects
The first meetings took place between December, January, and March at the Cucine Economiche Popolari (People's Kitchens) in Padua. This organization offers specific support to vulnerable people through reception services and meal distribution. In this context, company employees contributed directly to the service and management of the dining room, interacting with the guests.
The experience then continued with a new initiative developed in collaboration with Retake Padova, an association committed to caring for the urban environment and enhancing common goods through active citizenship activities. Here too, our colleagues' participation translated into a real gesture of care for the local community, with waste collection in three different areas of Padua: near our headquarters, in the city center, and in the Stanga neighborhood.
At the end of each experience, we collected feedback from participants. We are very proud of the impact generated and the desire, expressed by many, to repeat these activities and to engage in volunteering on a personal level as well. This is an important sign: the initiative did not stop at the corporate level, but helped foster a sense of community that will extend beyond the workplace.
This aspect is fundamental for us, because it strengthens the bond between individuals and organizations and is part of a broader journey the company is pursuing on the themes of sustainability and shared responsibility.
Corporate volunteering represents a concrete way to transform values and social awareness into real actions, capable of generating a positive impact and strengthening the bond between individuals, businesses, and the local community.
